Voices of Camden
Military history can be difficult to conceptualize, imagine, and honor. At the Camden Battlefield in South Carolina, we sought to highlight the ways in which the history of a battlefield offers powerful connections to our histories, our communities, and ultimately our resilience as a nation. Here, we created an immersive multichannel audio experience that is permanently installed in the landscape. We commissioned an original theatrical script from playwright Justin Sherin, and a score from Chris Funk of the Decemberists, a libretto that draws visitors into the story, and offers an alternative to a more traditional curatorial approach.
