Epicenter

For the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, we designed and fabricated an earthquake simulator, called Epicenter.

We sought to make an abstract fear (The Big One, aka a Cascadia Subduction Zone event) both concrete and actionable; we wanted people to understand the real-world impacts of a big earthquake, and also the tremendous potential for preparedness and seismic literacy. We collaborated with scientists, engineers and craftspeople on this standalone exhibit, which successfully invited Pacific Northwest residents to face their fears, and shake them off.

Primary project partners include: Axiom Custom Products, Nick Ostini
